Hey riders!

On 5/12/02 I posted a topic about and engine noise when revved. I'm hearing it still, but I think it's coming from the transmission. The noise is a "chirping" "rattle" or "cricket sound" at high revs. When warming up, I rev high and I hear the noise. I think it's coming from the bottom of the engine (that's the transmission). Also, when I'm riding along I'll hear the noise. Then I'll pull in the clutch to down shift and the chirp noise goes away. So I believe it has to do with the trans.

I stopped by a busy shop today, just to ask a service man for a quick diagnosis. This is what one guy there said after listening to it for a few seconds: It sounds fine. It's a 650. There's a lot of moving parts in there. It's normal. The valves could be making noise (but the noise is from the bottom of the engine!). Do your Savages make this sound? Is it normal? I'm thinking the guy was blowing me off. But If it's normal I guess I can live with it.

Any feedback would help me out.
-Jon
